In addition to what's already been said:

* View > Outline mode (how could I organise my thoughts without this?)
* right-click spellcheck in Word 2K
* hierarchical styles / inheretence
* easy template management
* Avery envelopes & labels tools
* backwards compatibility is pretty good - I'm still using Word 98 at home and can always open everything that is sent to me.
* Metadata in File > Properties.
