In your opinion, what is the best way to "pitch" technical writing services to a undecisive client?
A colleague of mine, who is an editor, has asked me to pitch my technical writing services to his client at an upcoming meeting.
Initially, the client wanted a full-time technical writer within a few weeks. Then, the client wanted a technical writer on contract within a month. Now, the client seems to want a technical writer on contract for the fall.
In the past, the client has fired two technical writers. Apparently, one technical writer thought she "knew it all" and didn't ask enough questions and the other technical writer didn't fit in for other reasons.
I've worked with difficult clients before and learned a lot. What approach would you take to this situation?
