You presented the e-mails from this list to the PHBs and still have a
job???? Wow.

As for the MIS/IT plan to move software by uninstalling/reinstalling.
Think of this:

How much is the cost in their time to uninstall and reinstall? How much
is the cost in your time to stop working while they uninstall and in
your colleague's time as they stop working for the installation? And
then, how much of a PIA is it to have to work without customized
preferences, as the fresh installations will likely wipe any
customizations you have. And, how robust is your OS to put up with
frequent cycles of such activity? Methinks all of that adds up to at
least the cost of the software you need.

Cheers,

Sean

Well, what a response.

Thank you to all who have offered encouragement and
advice, especially those who posted directly to my home address. I think
we
ought to now let the topic drop. It's perfectly clear how absurd the
company
would look, a point they took on board when I dropped over 40 e-mails on
the
MDs desk.

In a bid to annoy the hell out of the various software manufactures, IT,
who
despite all the wrangling actually agree that we need the tools, have
volunteered to install and de-install software on a use by use basis.
