Most students use Word. That being said, Word 2k is the best version to
have. Use styles, keep tables within a few pages in length and avoid
splitting/merging cells too much or clean your tables up with a convert
table > text, convert text > Table approach.

There is also the Maggie, the extended Maggie, and a number of other tricks
on my blog. Don't blame the tool, learn to use it properly. Teeated with
respect it can and will reliably produce thousands of pages for you.
