Search the internet for a copy of Microsoft's Help Workshop and
install it on your computer (MS offers it for free, but if I recall, it is
hard to find on their site. You may also find it or a link to it from
www.helpmaster.com).

The Help Workshop has a menu item View | WinHelp Messages.
Turn this on and then call the context sensitive help for all of the
applications and observe the calls the application is making to the
help. I suspect your problem might have something to do with your
main application calling a relative path, and the auxiliary application
calling a more detailed path, that sets the winhelp.exe off in the
wrong direction. Your developer may be able to add more detail to
the path for the main app to resolve the problem.
