Non-techies won't know what exceptions are, and there's no reason they should
have to learn. If it's an error, call it an error; if it's a warning, call it a
warning. (If it's coming up *after* they submit the form, sounds like it's more
likely to be an error than a warning...) And since you have some input into the
interface: are there ways you can ward off the error before it happens by
clarifying the instructions on the form and/or getting the developers to modify
the form?
