Thanks to everyone who responded in this quite interesting thread. As it has
turned out when I reported to work at the new location, I found that the
previous writer had asked for and gotten a cube with high sides and they
retained that space for me.
Actually, the tables turned out to be a great improvement over conditions
many of us have had to endure, but I'm glad for the cube.
