Training: context recognition:

Okay, I realize there are many systems out there that can learn to understand a specific person, but are there any that don't have to be trained to recognize a specific person -- that can just recognize everybody?

(Actually, to be fair, I should mention that someone once suggested to me that the computers on STAR TREK might have had to be trained to understand Kirk, Spock, Picard, etc. In other words, they might not have been capable of universal recognition, but rather of multiple recognition.)
