I use the "link and insert" option. This gives me the best of both
worlds: I can modify the graphic in another application and update as
needed. Also, since the graphic is embedded, I can e-mail/move on the
network as needed.

We had a weird problem with this method. The graphics kept disappearing
until you selected the empty space where they were supposed to be and
did an "update link." Neither the master file nor the linked files had
been moved.
