In my case, the "manager" bit of my last title turned some people off when I was applying for work as a technical writer/communication specialist/all-around helpful guy. I eventually put together several resumes with and without my managerial title and responsibilities in it. The job I am currently at was the result of a non-managerized resume.

If you're looking to get into management, then by all means push for this. However, if you don't have designs on that, I would be hesitant to put that in my job title.

I understand I might be running a bit scared about this point, but I thought I would share this perspective on the word "manager" and its effect on your resume.

As always, ymmv...
