Sandra asked about static v. dynamic web site (ie., whether
to build a database of docs and put the database as web
server, or just to publish "flat" html pages on the server.


One thing that has always struck me is this; if there is
not a great deal of dynamic content (i.e. the content isn't
changing from minute to minute), then the decision as
to whether to store you information in a database for your
own content-management reasons is a seperate question
as to whether you need to build a database driven web site.

Consider _storing_ your docs in a db, but _publish_ as a flat
web site -- effectively querying all of the db once per
day / week / month and putting the results up on your
site. 

Hey presto, your docs are in a managed db giving all the
advantages that your developer friend mentions and yet
you also don't need to invest in a new server / annoy
your web site visitors.

Of course, it couldn't be that webmasters just want to
play with dymanic sites to pad their CV / resume....?
