When the company is fighting for survival (or trying to make you think they
are), do you think they care more about what is better for the techwriter or
the company?

Also, in this situation, media and public perception is
important...especially if you are trying to get concessions from vendors,
unions, customers, and bankers. They see changes in internal processes, they
think "Should have done it before they get into this bind." They see
reduction in pay across the board, they see "OK...you're trying...maybe we
can give a little too."
