Word creates one of more files with the extension TMP when you open a Word
document. Try changing the extension to .doc and see if they open in Word.

Word files have a DOC or DOT extension. How did you come to have a TMP
extension? Try opening the TMP file in Notepad.exe and seeing what it
really is by looking at the header.

Cheers,

Sean
