Hi John,
You have to remember that just because you could do a better job (given
more time/money to gain knowledge), doesn't mean that it is in the
company's best interest for you to do a better job. There is nothing
wrong with having high standards or being a perfectionist, as long as
you know how to turn it off when it exceeds what the company requires.
You should discuss it with your boss. I'd even go as far as doing a
report or Cost Benefit Analysis on your suggested improvements. Just
make sure you can live with it if they say, "sorry, it's not important
enough to our company".
