How would one synchronize a non-linear path with the particular
direction an audience is heading? Am thinking, some fuzzy logic is
needed here, artificial intelligence at least, if not that a presenter
should be capable of leading the audience and not the other way around.
You can use PowerPoint and Acrobat Reader in a non-linear way by
manually creating the presentation through the random assignment of
numbers, and then clicking wildly during the presentation.
I wonder what the material is that it cannot be presented in a
structured way.
I know I didn't answer the question, but I am really really curious to
see where this goes.
I checked the recent archives and did Google and MSN searches for info
on this, but I couldn't find specific-enough information. I'm hoping
some of you folks may be able to give me some leads.
I've been asked to find a software tool that will create "nonlinear"
presentations. The idea is that the slides won't have a set order;
instead there will be multiple paths the presenter can follow, depending
on how people are responding. I can imagine doing this with DreamWeaver,
by basically creating a web site with appropriately-sized web pages for
slides, with hotspot-hyperlinks for navigation. It also occurred to me
that I could just use ordinary hyperlinks in Powerpoint. The concern I
have about using these tools is that it might be very time-consuming to
do. I'm hoping to find a tool designed specifically for this kind of
nonlinear presentation that would make them it easier and faster to
write (since I'll probably be the one writing them!).
Ideally, I'd like to find something that works well with those
projectors that you hook up to a laptop. The guy that actually gives the
presentations has told me that he really likes how well-integrated
PowerPoint and these projectors are. Also, of course, I'd like something
that's easy to use and flexible. :) Sound and animation are not very
important, but if the features were there, we might occasionally use
them.
Have any of you ever created a presentation with multiple viewing paths?
If so, how did you go about it? I'd really appreciate any ideas you have
to offer. Also, please cc me on any replies, as I'm on digest.
