Thanks for the replies, but I still have the problem.

The problem appears to be in the FrameMaker-Distiller interface. It only
appears with certain TrueType fonts when I make PDFs in FrameMaker 6.0.
There is no problem in Word, whether I use PDFMaker or the Distiller
printer driver. Oh, I'm using Windows 2000 and Office XP.
