Well, I was about to accuse Mark of neologism, but this is what I found in www.yourdictionary.com from Merrian-Webster Collegiate Dictionary. The term appeared in 1940.

To answer your question, it looks like this dictionary allows both. Though typically these are listed in most common usage first, so go with parameterization.

-Michael

Main Entry: pa.ram.e.ter.ize
Pronunciation: p&-'ra-m&-t&-"rIz, -m&-"trIz
Function: transitive verb
Date: 1940
Variant(s): or pa.ram.e.trize /-'ra-m&-"trIz/
Inflected Form(s): -ter.ized or -trized; -ter.iz.ing or -triz.ing
: to express in terms of parameters
- pa.ram.e.ter.i.za.tion /-"ra-m&-t&-r&-'zA-sh&n, -m&-tr&-/ or pa.ram.e.tri.za.tion /-m&-tr&-/ noun

Is there any good reason for preferring the
spelling "parameterization" or "parametrization"?

(For your convenience, if you wish to reply
"Flip a coin and get on with your life" you
may write simply "FACAGOWYL".)
