STORY: SnagIt ensures a captivating performance

Dan the technical writer tossed and turned. He peeked at the clock and
immediately wished he hadn't. He knew he had a presentation that morning,
and it just wasn't right yet.

Resignedly, he got up, got ready and left for work at a ridiculously early
hour. Once he arrived at the empty workplace, he immediately felt better.
As he started working on his presentation, he realized what he needed -
more images. Not only more images, but perfectly comprehensible and
annotated images!

He turned to SnagIt, the powerful screen capture software. With it, he
could quickly capture, edit and use images wherever he needed. He used it
to get precise parts of the screen, then used Studio to add captions,
arrows and callout boxes. He created some of his own custom annotation
objects, highlighted portions of his images, and added frames and borders.
Then he quickly pasted his images into his handouts and presentation
program.

"Voila!" his voice echoed into now-stirring office as he surveyed his
impressive and lively presentation materials.

Finally satisfied, he set the alarm on his cell phone and meticulously
positioned his head on his hands. As he began his nap - visions of SnagIt
icons dancing in his head - he realized that SnagIt was just as valuable
as
a good night's sleep.

HOT OFF THE PRESS: _Mastering HTML and XHTML_,
by TECHWR-L's Ray & Ray Team

What's the difference between HTML and XHTML? And,
which one is right for my needs?
GIFs, JPGs, PNGs. What's the difference, and how
do I know which one to use?
What are ways I can reduce image file size for
use in Web pages?
How do I calculate how long my Web pages will take
visitors to download?
Tables and frames are commonly used on the Web to
develop interesting designs. What do you
mean that they pose significant drawbacks
for some site visitors?
I have a large Web site developed in HTML. Why and how
should I go about converting my site to XHTML?
I've used the <<FONT>> tag throughout my site to add
formatting. Now the W3C tells us not to use
this tag and to use style sheets instead. Yikes!
What do I do?
How do I track users to my site, and detect which browsers
they're using?
A tech writer who works for me keeps telling me that
the multimedia used on our site poses challenges
for both site developers and visitors. What
challenges could multimedia pose?
The JavaScript pop-ups and such we have on our site
work just fine. Can Flash Animations improve
on these effects?
Why should I plan for Web site redesign and maintenance
even before I develop the site?
I use search tools on Web sites all the time. What's
this I hear that there are drawbacks to including
a site search engine?
How do I add "breadcrumbs" to my site?
I've heard noise about Web site "accessibility." What
exactly is accessibility? Is it really that
important? And how can I adapt my site to be
accessible?
