Educationally speaking, I have a BS in entomology and a Technical >Writing Certificate(never ?used?). I also have an MA in English.

Sounds like you would fit very well into the biotech industry. I love working here, although my background is mathematics and education. Most of what I previously knew about genetics, I learned when I worked in a genetics lab just out of high school. My job was feeding and caring for the hundreds of cats we had (none of which were "sacrificed," in case any animal lovers are wondering.) The scientist I worked for in those dark ages bore more resemblence to Mendel than to the scientists I work for today.
