Austin news:
Six of the eight remaining tech pubs people at HP in Austin (formerly
Compaq, formerly Tandem) got laid off Monday. Also, one of the several
contract writers at Emerson Process was laid off Monday. There is a light
rumor that things are looking better, but it's still bad. I have a tech
editor friend who's been out since being laid off by Dell in Feb of 2001.
