You didn't mention whether other field codes are printing, too, or just the index field codes ("{ XE ... }").

If *all* the field codes in the document are printing, ask them to try this:

1. From the Tools menu, choose Options.

2. Choose the Print tab.

3. Under Include With Document, make sure Field Codes is disabled.
