I would not use freeware and shareware fonts for my "work" and
"professional" documentation. It's not that I'm a snob--or rich--it is
that I want repeatable dependability.

Sure, some of these shareware and freeware fonts are good,
well-designed, and embeddable, etc. However, many are not.

For your personal use and your local club newsletter, why not get
freeware and shareware fonts . . . but for your bread-and-butter
income, I recommend using fonts from tried-and-true foundries.

Cheers,

Sean

The are free and shareware fonts available on the Internet. Frequently
you can find a "clone" of a licensed font being offered as shareware for
a fraction of the cost of the original font. I once needed a copy of
Frutiger for a special purpose at work but found Frobisher font as a
shareware alternative. The fonts were so similar it was difficult to
tell them apart. Frobisher cost $12 to license. Frutiger would have
cost $129 for a license.
