OK gang here's the scenario:

I've created a Word template with some form fields, protected the document for forms and saved as .dot. I've also created a macro, using record new macro, that adds the word "more" in the footer. The specs requires "more" to appear at the bottom of the page when the document is longer than one page.

the macro won't run if the document is protected. The fields won't work if the document is not protected. Anyone got a work around?

Yep. You can protect a document by section. Put the part that needs to be protected in a section of its own, protect that, and put the part that doesn't need to be protected in a different section.

If you need them to be contiguous, make sure each section is defined as "continuous" rather than "new page."
