I wouldn't recommend it. Every place where I've applied for a job has
contacted ALL the previous employers I listed, not just my references.
Although most companies will not give out any information other than
confirmation of whether or not you actually worked for them, it's possible
that they might mention they fired you.

If you got laid off, that's different. But if you got flat-out *fired*, I
would not include the name of that company on your resume.

A resume is a sales pitch, not an autobiography. Tell them what they need
to know to become interested in hiring you; nothing else.
