"Grew a little bit?" If anything rudeness is very immature. There was no
"growth" happening there, except maybe egos and bad attitudes.

And she hardly faught back with knowledge. First, she got the core information
from you. Second she screamed this information along with some other rude
things back at her co-workers. This is hardly "fighting back with knowledge."
Its more like having a hissy fit.

Fighting back with knowledge would have been to re-engage the IT group and find
a diplomatic way to discover exactly what the problem was. Then calmly and
respectfully propose a solution.

She might have won your respect, but not mine.
