However, I would think that 40 wpm is more than adequate for a
Technical Writer, even a junior writer.
I second this. I once worked as a 'documentation specialist' (which was a
glorified title for a word processor)in pharmaceutical QA documentation, and
one of the job specs was 40wpm - along with accuracy and an ability to
closely proofread work. The latter two were much more important than typing
speed. 'For what shall it profit a man, if he shall type 100 words per
minute, and type "form" instead of "from"?'
