You're right.

That goal should be implicit in any discussion of marketing or resumes, but it probably can never be said too often.

As an aside, talking about benefits rather than features is one of the hardest adjustments when moving between marketing and technical writing. I do both, but, whenever possible, I prefer not to do both on the same day. At the very least, I try to have a break or go to lunch in between. Otherwise, I can find it hard to make the switch.
