Good points, Tom. I still feel that the reuqest is wrong-headed...but
perhaps you're right--somehow the boss needs education. A good boss
listens to her staff, too.

As another helpful (it is hoped) suggestion, I strongly suggest visiting
Boxes and Arrows (http://www.boxesandarrows.com), especially its how-to
subsite
(http://www.boxesandarrows.com/archives/cat_how_to_methods_approaches.php).
This site is devote to information architecture, usability, and user
experience. Lots of smart people writing about really practical stuff.
