That particular error might not be so obvious to most readers. Especially if
you weren't thinking about looking for it. A company can be aware of errors
and omissions (and I'm sure MS has been made aware, by now, of this one),
however may chose not to act. The error may have been considered trivial,
when compared to the cost of correcting it. Especially if the document no
longer generates profits. Some TW departments simply move on, once a project
is completed. In that case, if it's not a 'living document', then the
correction will not be done until there is a reason to - such as a new
edition.

You should see the types of serious errors that slip through the peer-review
process for text books. Even after the first, second, or even third
editions - there can be a few errors remaining. Rarely do the errors stay
uncorrected. But it's interesting that editing is sometimes more thoroughly
done by the end-user.
