I don't know whether that waiver is for real, but I hope it is. It
reflects the mindset I saw when traveling across Norway. Many of the
tourist attractions there require you to have A) physical stamina, B) a
decent sense of balance, and C) common sense. Guard rails and warnings are
in scarce supply - I remember being struck by this fact.

It made me realize how accustomed I've become to the US convention of tons
of "yes, this coffee is hot" warnings - usually intented to help protect
against lawsuits.

They just don't think like that over there. Instead, they have a somewhat
Darwinistic view of how one should go about facing the daily perils of
existence - by using your head and being careful, and by being responsible
for the consequences. What a concept!

Note: I'm absolutely NOT trying to revive the frivolous lawsuit thread.
Just commenting on a cultural difference I observed (and enjoyed).
