Carey...understand that my perspective is very anti-testing and infact, I've
never taken one or been asked to take one.
However isn't it true that ANY situation that you design for the purpose of
testing is not going to be representative of how the situation is played out
in real life? Doesn't a test simply show how well you can take a test? There
are things I would do on a test that I wouldn't do in a real situation and
vice versa. Please don't assume that you are smarter than me taking the test
and that you would know.
"...not only to see how they wrote, but how they worked..." Does this mean
that if you prefer a specific WAY of working, and I don't work that way, but
still get the results, that I'd be an unsuitable candidate?
You may prefer to see a document develop along a specific path (small
polished modules, then on to the next module), and I prefer another method
(stream of consciousness for the whole document and assembly at the end). Am
I unsuitable?
When interviewing a SME, I never make the meeting more than 15 minutes and I
may schedule several of these meetings over the period of a week. (who can't
find 15 minutes in their schedule?) If you don't approve of that method for
whatever reason, am I unsuitable?
"... a few hours to complete it..." Really? And they do it? Without billing
you for creating a deliverable?
