We use CorelDraw for all of our vector graphics; I've been using it for
9 years now and I swear by it, and occasionaly swear AT it. It has a
sharp learning curve, but once you get it, you can make it sing. You
need to know a few workarounds, but there is an eager and helpful online
community able to provide answers to bugs, workflows, and "how do I draw
a circle".
Corel *used* to ship with a clipart CD. I don't know if it still does.
Either way, you could probably get your hands on this clipart CD from
Corel with enough $$$.
I made a large icon set of assets our system contains: PCs, IEDs,
gensets, transformers, PDAs, Celphones, PDUs, et al. These are used for
manuals, website, marketing lit, power point slides, etc. I recommend
doing it right the first time, and doing it well. This type of art has
longevity and a wide usage.
