<<Manually setting the hyperlinks also means maintaining the hyperlinks -
manually. There might be good reasons for keeping it that way.>>
What on earth would the advantage of having to manually maintain the links be?
What do hyperlinks provide that crossreferences don't?
<<Still, it would be good to know whether a tool exists, that automatically sets
the hyperlinks. I'll reword and repost this question to the list.>>
While it doesn't result in hyperlinks from the document to the glossary, there
is another approach that I have found useful. Use markers with the term and
definition at each occurrence of a term. Disadvantage is that you are limited to
255 characters. Advantage is that when multiple chapters are made into a book
generating the glossary (alphabetical list of markers) shows whether all authors
used terms in the same manner.
Instead of linking to the glossary, I assume such markers could become
mouse-overs or popups in pdf or on-line. Which would be more helpful than a jump
to the glossary IMO. Working with markers, IXgen could greatly help maintain the
markers. (Could IXgen not also help maintain hyperlinks?)
