Possibly, but it's a basic guideline for interviewers that
you never call a candidate on even the most obvious lie.
It can lead to all sorts of unforseen results, from legal
issues to people "going postal" right at the interview
(I actually know of one incident where a candidate had to
be escorted out of an interview by a company's security
because of the way he reacted to something that happened
during the meeting, fortunately not at a company I worked
at).
