I've also got several contracts and jobs because the interviewers were also interested in Open Source.

Admittedly, I know some people who have made Open Source their life to such an extent that they've lost their day jobs (including one, ironically enough, at an Open Source company), but my somewhat limited involvement has more than paid for itself.
