I'm sure that the way it was done made the most sense given the situations
and conditions.
I'm just saying that if one of the conditions was different....the writer
having expertise, with all else equal, the product would have been either
better or faster, or maybe both.

If it had to be written, wasn't it better that the writer spend time with
the SMEs tapping their knowledge than for the SMEs to spend their time
resentfully writing material that then had to be heavily edited, queried,
and re-edited by the writer?
Not that all, or even most, SMEs resent writing, or do it badly, of
course...
