As a 43 year old recovering feminist, depending on the
context in which the term is used, I really don't
object to being referred to as a "gal" or "girl".

Apart from my assistant, I'm the only woman who works
in my environment. I call all my Vice Presidents and
officers "my boys".

While I have conducted many diversity and sensitivity
workshops, I sometimes think that "political
correctness" can be taken too far - to the point where
it can further divide rather than bring understanding.

My own personal favorite is history -- "his story"

But then, I came of age during the age of feminism.
And used to cringe
=
when, at my summer job, the 30-year-old comptroller
stopped by the =
business office every morning to ask "How are my girls
this morning?" =
And all the 60-year-old ladies would giggle and simper
and just say =
fine.

And then, this morning, our 30-year-old manager
stopped by
documentation =
and asked "How are you girls doing?" =20

Sigh

Not sixty yet, but aware.
