That happens a lot these days. I've seen listings for open positions go unfilled for
far longer than it would take to train a semi-qualified candidate because the company
is convinced that in the current recruiting climate they'll find the "perfect" person
for the job if they wait long enough. Looking at these, I have to wonder how much
they really need someone if they can keep a position open for an entire quarter or
longer, and if I were that "perfect" person and already had a reasonably stable job
how much sense it would make to consider an "opportunity" with a company that
thought it could do without my talents for that long a time...
