We've had a certain amount of nervousness about that - we're doing our first application development guide, and I'm on point for it (fun!). I just keep reassuring them that I know things will change, I'll be quiet in the meeting or take notes if they need them, and as things move along they seem to be relaxing a bit.

We have a great bunch of engineers, but they're not used to working with writers as part of the process yet. I've spent a lot of time these past few weeks telling that the more I know now, the fewer stupid questions I'll have to ask later, and they seem to appreciate that. :-) And of course I do my own research....

I've actually had developers lock my writers *out* of the development process,
including attending development team meetings, until a particular date, saying
that things were "too fluid," and that "there won't be anything for you to
document
until then," putting them in a position where it wouldn't be possible for
any writer,
