Some of us still write docs that are meant to be printed.
I had not been indexing, but when a User Guide reached 400
pages, I thought the lack was becoming a sore spot. The first
pass took nearly a week -- in sharp contrast to some people's
claims that it should take hours or a day-or-two. A mere
concordance wasn't going to cut it.
On the other hand, I think that anything up to 100 pages
that's well organized and is well-served by the ToC, can
probably do without an index.
Hey, your spell-checker reversed my bad pun -- I originally
transposed "liesure", and then left it when I saw that it
implied that I thought "leisure" was a lie, even for us
captive employee types.
