As the saying goes, never attribute to malice what canbe
explained by stupidity.

My e-mail looked like that for a long time, back in the
mid-1990s, because the system administrator where I worked
couldn't figure out how to use SendMail properly. Everyone's
e-mail left the company with the domain name missing, and
wherever it arrived, the name of the receiving domain got
attached by default.

Once or twice, people who thought I must work at their
companies wondered why they'd never run into me. I guess
I could have got insider information from all over the world...
