Good system, copying into Notepad (I actually use Textpad for that) - especially when you have a massive corrupt document containing hundreds of tables and you don't fancy redoing all of them from scratch.

I also always use SEQ fields for numbered lists, and hadn't considered Word's autonumbering when I suggested the Copy->Paste Special technique - but I just checked and it also works when the numbers are created with that little numbering button that I always ignore on the toolbar. Something to remember for the future!
