About STC and about TWs as professionals:
> Being a mechanic is a profession. It has an established body
> of knowledge
> that is actually necessary for successful practice.
A Canadian TV program tonight will visit the professionalism
of mechanics and the establishments that employ them.
"W5" sends secret "shoppers" around several Canadian markets
each year, with properly serviced, expertly verified vehicles
to which they add one, simple flaw (this year it was a loose
battery connection).
They give a succinct description of the symptoms, and they
leave the vehicle. Later, they pick it up and see what the
visited shop has done... and charged for.
This year, they added a hidden camera under the hood, to
actually record what went on.
Anyway, they rate the service/honesty/competence you can
expect in each major market across the country.
>From the pre-view on "Canada AM" this morning, it's gonna be
ugly.
Not sure I'd want that level of "professionalism" to be
associated with what I do.
