Well no, not until you tell me. ;-)

But the question here is a perfectly plain and simple one. Here are
definitions of the terms from Onelook.

Occupation: the principal activity in your life that you do to earn money

Profession: any type of work which needs special training or a particular
skill, often one which is respected because it involves a high level of
education

So if Technical Communication is to be considered a profession rather than
simply being an occupation, then we should be able to list the special
knowledge or skills that set us apart from ordinary educated people. My
contention is that any knowledge or skills that you can justifiably ascribe
to all people with the title "technical writer" are the knowledge and skills
of an ordinary educated person. To prove me wrong you only need list the
areas of knowledge and skill that are common to all technical writers and
are not proper to all educated people.
