Lisa Bronson in her email suggested the ideal term for me - tasks. Programmers try to group similar features of an application into module and users will tend to relate to such a unit of an application with the term 'tasks'.

I can't suggest an alternate word, but am interested in hearing what words you hear about. I'm writing a manual right now for a software with several sections, and use the term module. I don't think anyone at my work has thought if this is the best term or not, it's just the term we've always used.

Hi all,

We have a user manual for each module of software (e.g administration module, support module and so on). I am really apprehensive about using 'module' in the manual since it looks like a programming term to me. Could anyone suggest me an alternative for the word 'module'?

cheers,
