Silicon valley companies are traditionally very very casual;
dressing up would involve ironing your jeans. But I've been
working a contract at a larger valley company for a last
few months and have noticed that the informal unspoken dress code
here is a little dressier here than other smaller places I've worked.
Its been really nice here over the last week -- temps in the 80's,
clear blue skies, just gorgeous, so a few days ago I wore a tank
top to work. It was a nice tank top, it was clean, and it covered
all the important bits modestly, but BOY did I get frowned at.
So OK, note to self. bare shoulders: not professional. I won't do
that again.
