Well, if the picture shows the stripe on the top part of the card, at
least you have a 50% chance of getting it right the first time (I
usually don't).
Even more insidious is the hose order of multi-hose pumps. I'm not sure
exactly why, but intuitively I'd expect the hoses to be arranged with
the lowest octane on the left (87-89-93).
But sometimes, you'll see some other order like (89-87-93) or
(89-93-87), so people like me who aren't paying attention will grab the
higher-priced hose. At least, I can't think of any other reason for
dis-ordering the hoses.
