The reason I the idea of "stacking" the screen segments is that it retains the benefit of orienting the user, by showing the spatial relationship among the elements. (By the way, I always reduce screen elements to 70% or so.)

If you were willing to spend a little extra time on the effort, you could eliminate space between the segments altogether (using a two-clumn table, for example). That way you'd see a single screen capture when viewing the page in a browser, but the image would break up nicely when printed.
