TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
<The sad fact is that if you search for some information about a
product or technology, you get a lot of technical information written
by/for technical folks and very limited information meant for the
end-users.>
My problem when I search isn't that I am overwhelmed with technical
information about a product, it is that I am overwhelmed with
non-informative advertisements about a product. Just Google "Western
Digital Hard Drive" and see how many are purely advertisements for
purchasing.
If only we could draw a fine line (where is the real problem) between
technical publications and marketing ploys. The digital cable salesman
on my doorstep was trying to mask his marketing as a public service
devoted to my education about the technology of cable and broadband
Internet.
