TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
While I agree with Andrew's idea to limit posts, another possible way to
discourage unprofessional tirades is to send a message like the one below to
people who are getting out of hand. Taking them off the list for a while and
letting the list know what is acceptable and what is not should discourage
most from repeat performances as well as make others think before they press
send. May sound like babysitting or policing, but we wouldn't be having this
discussion if it was needed.

Scott,
As it said in the rules you received when you
subscribed, and in reminders as recently as
last week, ads may not be posted directly
to TECHWR-L under any circumstances.
I've suspended your posting privileges. Contact
me directly for more information about getting
them restored and about the right way to advertise
to TECHWR-L.
